When he aces the tryout, Calvin's luck seems to have turned - until his reason for disappearing earlier becomes clear: he doesn't have a visa. What makes the story perfect is that the heroine was also just as lovable. It seemed like so much was thrown at us within the last 30 pages, but then it ended so abruptly. Another knockout by Lauren' Kirkus Reviews 'Lauren masters rom-com banter and plotting, while also reminding us that the best entries in the genre are all about recognizing our own value regardless of relationship status.
Like books in the Beautiful series, all of the Wild Seasons books to date have hit the New York Times list. My tights keep me from running with any amount of speed or grace, but his clunky run speeds up, turns more fluid with confidence. From subway to Broadway to happily ever after. Lacking the nerve to actually talk to the gorgeous stranger, fate steps in one night in the form of a drunken attacker. Calvin Mcloughlin rescues her, but quickly disappears when the police start asking questions. Seeing that her uncle needs Calvin as much as Calvin needs him, a wild idea takes hold of her. Impulsively, she marries the Irishman, her infatuation a secret only to him. As their relationship evolves and Calvin becomes the darling of Broadway—in the middle of the theatrics and the acting-not-acting—will Holland and Calvin to realize that they both stopped pretending a long time ago? I enjoyed Roomies, but it wasn't my favorite Christina Lauren book. It was a good concept with likable main characters. I liked both Calvin and Holland, even though they didn't always make the wisest decisions. They're a cute couple who have a lot of obstacles in their path. They have similar mindsets and personalities and that makes them work as a couple. I think they're a good fit for one another. I was a bit thrown off by a few things including the ending. It seemed like so much was thrown at us within the last 30 pages, but then it ended so abruptly. I was unfortunately left with many unanswered questions, which is sad seeing as I liked the book and characters. I would have at least liked an epilogue to tell me where they were a little bit down the line. Other than that I enjoyed the book and thought it was well written, especially the music and legal details. My first read of 2018 and it was soooooo good! I highly recommend this one to music lovers, romance lovers, theater lovers, and pretty much everyone else too. This is definitely 5 out of 5 stars for me. I adored the characters in this one: Holland, Calvin, Robert, and Jeff. Although some of the supporting cast haha was nice to get a glimpse of too. I felt a kinship with Holland. It was kind of like she was speaking to my soul. Well this girl makes it turn into something. Definitely an addition to my book boyfriend list. Robert was an absolute pleasure to read about, and Jeff was fantastic too with all his protectiveness. But reading about this Broadway book was amazing. Everything was fantastic for me. The emotions, the banter, the overall arc of the story, etc. This is one of those stories that just pulls you in more and more the further you read. It got to the point that I didn't want to put the book down to leave for work and I was anxious to pick it back up as soon as I could. It did start out a bit slow. Also, Holland was a pretty awkward character. It took me a bit to connect to her but once the story got Calvin more involved, the pages just really started to fly by. You get invested in these two pretty quickly. I was expecting this to be more of a humorous story but it really was more emotional. It ended up being an unexpected read for me in a very good way.
